Compass for Personal Use
Compass is on by default for everyone whose plan includes it — there is no extra setup. This page covers the small handful of personal preferences you can change.
Show or Hide the Floating Button
The floating Compass button sits in the lower-right corner of every page so you can open the assistant in one click.
If it gets in your way, you can hide it:
- Click your avatar (top-right) → Settings
- Find Compass in the slide-over panel
- Switch Show floating button off
You can turn it back on the same way at any time. This setting only affects your account on the device you’re using — it’s stored locally in the browser.
The floating button automatically hides itself while you’re writing an email, in a video call, or have a dialog open, so it should rarely get in the way.
Other Ways to Open Compass
Even with the floating button off, you can still open Compass from:
- The Compass button in the top navigation bar
- The Compass tile in the app grid (9-dot icon next to your avatar)
- Anywhere a “Draft with Compass” or “Ask Compass” action appears (mail composer, document sidebar, search box)
What’s Stored, What’s Not
- Your conversations with Compass are kept for 90 days so you can scroll back through them, then automatically deleted.
- Compass only sees what your account already has access to. It cannot read other people’s mail, files, or chat.
- If you want to clear a conversation sooner, open it and click Delete conversation.
Compass Isn’t Available?
If you don’t see Compass anywhere in the app:
- Your organisation’s administrator may have disabled it. Ask them to check Admin → Compass.
- Your plan may not include Compass. Open Settings → Subscription to check, or upgrade.
- Personal accounts on the Free plan do not include Compass.
